What does Aggregator mean?
An aggregator (CSP) collects flexibility from companies or households and offers it jointly to a grid operator or supplier on behalf of these parties for a fee.
With the flexibility collected by the aggregator, the grid operator can reduce peaks in the electricity grid and prevent power cuts.
These peaks are increasing as more and more energy is generated from renewable sources such as wind and solar.
The aggregator thus plays an important role in resolving congestion in the electricity grid. Since the new Grid Code of June 2022, aggregators must be authorised CSP to be able to submit flex bids through GOPACS.
GOPACS is an initiative of the Dutch grid operators:
Join GOPACS! Participating in GOPACS is interesting for every market party with the ability to influence electricity consumption or the generation of electricity, which can offer this flexibility to trade.
